Virginia and the nation has seen a veritable explosion in the number of craft breweries. Yet, despite the growth, many experts predict that more is to come and the American craft beer industry is poised to continue its upward trajectory for many years into the future.

Many, if not most, of these craft breweries were started by homebrewers. In this seminar find out what you need to start homebrewing and how to turn your passion for making craft beer into a successful business.

This seminar concludes in time for you to attend the Walk-Around Grand Tasting later in the afternoon (ticket sold separately).

The Speakers for this seminar include the following:

Bob Henderson - owner of The Weekend Brewer home-brewing supplies business and an avid member of the James River Homebrewers, based in Richmond, Virginia.

Jeremy Wirtes - Co-founder, Triple Crossing Brewing Company, Richmond, Virginia; Former homebrewer and member of the James River Homebrewers.

Jeremy Wirtes discovered beer late into college at James Madison University by way of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Green Flash West Coast IPA.  After a few years of enjoying craft beer, Jeremy began homebrewing to learn more about beer, and started as many homebrewers do with extract, partial mash, and then all grain brewing.

After 3 years of homebrewing, and recognizing that the obsession wasn’t going away, Jeremy with friends Adam Worcester and Scott Jones decided to formulate a business plan for a 7bbl draft only tasting room brewery focusing on hop forward beers of all styles and classic British ales.

Following the eighteen month process of selecting a site, fund raising, construction, and permitting, Triple Crossing Brewing Company opened on Foushee St. in April of 2014.
